IntroductionAlso known as Marianne d'Algers, this Marianne was a Provisory Government issue authorized by Charles de Gaulle, immediately after the war. First issued in March 1944, in Corsica Algeria, after the allied landing, then in Paris, November, 1944. These issues were intended to be used by territories liberated by the allied forces. Designed by Louis Fernez, engraved by Jarnignon, and printed by lithography at l'Atellier Carbonnel, in Algeria. |
